Without a nanny?
We got one for our school aged kids to help with awkward early morning starts and after school activities. Worked well for a while but then the kids stopped enjoying it with her and we were getting constant updates of bad behaviours. She quit which we all were sad about but now we have a much easier time. We are using wraparound care, friends are helping out and the kids are happier. People always say they dream of a reliable nanny but it doesn't have to spell disaster for working parents (in some cases) not to have one and we have actually become closer as a family because of it.

YABU to bother saying this, yes.

What's your point? You had one experience and have friends who help out and wraparound care. It works for you - great. Not everyone has this kind of support, needs may be different (late nights, early mornings, whatever). What works for one family may not work gif another, which is why there are different childcare services available.

Just saying that sometimes other alternatives work much better. It was hard having a nanny at times and this works for us even if we do have to plan and organise more.
