Feeling hungover after magnesium spray?!

Used better you magnesium spray for the first time last night Hoping it may cure my back that I’ve pulled this week… read reviews that magnesium is really relaxing and helps pain and helps you sleep better… I felt relaxed soon after spraying it (7 sprays) slept super well but have woken up feeling a bit dopey / hungover?! Like it’s made me too relaxed?! Has anyone else had this?

I felt like this the first time I took it - but I took two magnesium citrate capsules (400mg) quite late when I got in after a night out. I felt like an absolute space cadet until about lunch time. I take them earlier in the evening now and haven’t had the same problem.

Oh my goodness is this a thing?!! My GP recommended magnesium tablets to help with my long coivid but I've felt so out of it the last couple of weeks. I might try stopping them and seeing if I feel better.

Did you find the feeling just suddenly lifted around midday @Imabitbusyatthemoment ? I’m not sure how much 7 sprays would be but on the bottle it says 10 sprays is 200mg so I wouldn’t think I took too much but it could be my body getting used to it? Annoyingly my back still hurts lol but I just feel like a zombie!

It was around 10pm I used the spray.

Better You also do a sensitive magnesium spray, which might have less severe side effects?

C1239 · 02/07/2022 09:49

That’s a good idea @Stupidpeoplesuck , thank you. I just wondered if it was only me !!

@C1239 no not you at all, I think there’s 100mg in 10 sprays, so not as concentrated. I find my legs get irritated with the sensitive one, so I can only imagine the strength of the normal one!
i got mine from Amazon if it’s any help.

Yes, it was like a curtain lifted around midday. 😄

Thank you @Imabitbusyatthemoment , fingers crossed it wears off soon!!

I use it for my restless legs occasionally. Can’t remember feeling like this but will look out for it next time I use it.

Shellingbynight · 02/07/2022 10:42

I use the Better You sensitive spray, and it doesn't give me a 'hungover' feel - I've been using it for a year now and can't remember if it did to begin with, but it doesn't now. I use 8-10 sprays at bedtime.

Alicay · 02/07/2022 10:45

The full strength mag spray makes me feel a bit ‘jiggly/nervy’ BUT I do sleep well. Have just ordered the BetterYou Magnesium Sleep version. Has anyone tried it?

C1239 · 02/07/2022 12:47

For those of you who use it and don’t have any side effects what benefits do you find it has for you ?

Another question is why spray and not tablets? I have magnesium vit tablets but I'm guessing not as good?

Hairgician · 02/07/2022 12:58

The spray is absorbed faster transdermally than via stomach.

I swear by it for sleep and relaxation. Great for restless legs. Had that really bad when pg.

C1239 · 02/07/2022 13:21

Do people tend just to do a couple of sprays rather than multiple? Does that help the relaxed feeling without the hangover tiredness the next day?! I chose spray just because I brought it purely to help my back to be honest without realising any other possible benefits such as relaxation.
