And I’m now 36. I’ve fluctuated between 8 stone and 9 stone but I’ve never gone above that except during pregnancy.

The thing is, even though I’m healthy and active, I have just noticed that I can feel my thighs rubbing when I walk now. Why are my legs getting fatter even though I’m not gaining weight?!

How your body carries fat changes as we age and maintaining muscle tone is harder and takes more work.

You are probably losing muscle. Ever heard that old saying "muscle weighs more than fat"? So even though you are maintaining your weight, you have a higher body fat percentage.

Aaargh it’s so annoying. How can I do so much exercise and still lose muscle? 😞😞😞

Weight training is the answer.

I weighed between 8.5 and 9st until I had the menopause aged 50. I am now just over 10st. I remember weighing 10st when I was pregnant. It’s really unfair and I eat far less than I did when I was young.

It's not all bad though. I have started carrying my spare weight on my stomach which kind of sucks but I used to have really ugly flabby upper arms and now they look great!
