Tailgaters- why??!!

Driving along a busy road in a queue of traffic, doing around 50 on a 60mph road. Car up front of the queue is setting the speed. Car behind me tailgating the whole bloody way but sitting in the middle of the road- over the white line and then quickly pulling back in for oncoming traffic.

Thought they wanted to overtake so when the oncoming traffic cleared and it was safe to overtake, I slowed down slightly to allow them to pass. Getting annoyed at this point and just want rid of them. They didn’t overtake!! Continued to sit in my back seat, in the middle of the road. The window for safe overtaking lasted a couple of minutes so no issue there.

Any idea why people do this? Not the first time this has happened to me on the same stretch of road.

If someone tail gates all it does is make me slow down, I don’t get it ! You need a two second stopping gap, so if you’re up my arse I have to drive v slowly. ?!? Some People are twats when they get in their metal box …

I’ve had this. Agree just a complete twat. I had to do a speed awareness course recently & the trainer said to pull over if this happens & that it happens to him all the time as he has to be very strict about sticking to the speed limit.

Some people just like to bully you.

I normally pull over if I can and let them past as I'd rather they were as far away from me as possible with their horrendous driving

I hate this, I had a bad experience a few weeks ago with some lads coming right up to my bumper on purpose, then pulling back, they thought it was hilarious. I was really stressed. It was a country road as well so nowhere to pull in, although that is good advice.

Ugh I just hate this. Ditto on the motorway - I never lane hog and am always happy to let people past if they want to go faster than me. But when you are overtaking in the outside lane and there are other cars directly in front, and someone tailgates you. Where exactly do they expect you to go? The central reservation?

Can't bear tailgaters, I do slow down and take pleasure from seeing their crazy faces losing the plot behind me.

I really shouldn't but if they are going to hit me I'd rather they do it at a slower speed rather than a faster one.

If you knew a driver had insurance but hadn't declared the points on their licence for regularly speeding would you shop them?

Basically it means they aren't insured as if they hit someone the insurance wouldn't pay out.
