That we have had to cancel due to covid, and the cottage we had booked is available at a reduced price.

It sleeps 4 in 2 doubles.

It's a long shot, I know, but just in case anyone else has had previous plans disrupted and couldn't find availability, or whatever. Alnmouth is blooming gorgeous and I'm gutted we can't go.

So sorry you can't go! I agree that Alnmouth is gorgeous and that cottage looks amazing.

Thanks for the sympathy - I'm feeling a bit low, thinking we should just about be arriving now, so it's very appreciated!

It's a beautiful part of the country. I had a whole list of things I was looking forward to doing, starting off with a walk along the beach this evening and fish and chips from the pub just round the corner from the cottage. We've been going there for a few years so have an itinerary of favourites - Barter Books and Alnwick castle, and a few out of the way beaches and walks. I didn't realise how much I'd been depending on getting there to offload some stress!

The cottage company were slow to readvertise it, which is a shame as accommodation in the village gets booked up ages in advance. It's a shame to think that it's standing empty when there must be people who'd like to be there if they knew it was available.

Bumping this for any evening MNers sitting on the sofa with a glass of wine and thinking 'I'd love a week in Alnmouth right now...'

How come you didn't go anyway OP and do the walls etc? Have you gotten covid really bad?

DH is the only one who has it so far. He's on about day 3 and has been able to isolate quite easily at home but it's about a 5 or 6 hour drive for us, so it's quite likely we'd pick it up from him in the car and start feeling ill when we were there. It just doesn't feel like a great basis for a relaxing holiday!
