Just that really. I need some new book inspo. I've recently read My Cousin Rachel (Daphne Du Maurier) and loved it.
I like a bit of spookiness, but definitely no horror. Nothing explicit, no blood or gory violence, nothing about any harm coming to children. I've read a lot of classic novels recently and fancy something contemporary.
Ideally, I'd like a sort of modern day Woman in Black. Maybe. Maybe something edgy, not necessarily action-packed. Tense, mysterious, brittle kind of thing.
For more reference, I love Shirley Jackson, Donna Tartt, Kazoo Ishiguro.
I'd love some ideas.
