Selfish dad?

AIBU? So today, my ex dh prepared the kids packed lunches. Ex dh HAS to have his 2 slices of toast in the mornings, so upon finding only 4 slices of bread left, he proceeded to take 2 slices for his toast leaving only a slice each for dc's sandwich. Half a sandwich each for a growing 11 and 14 Yr old! I've told him he's been completely selfish and I can't believe he's put himself above his children, he's duly erupted at me (I was pretty direct!) and stormed out. Its also not the first time he has done it. AIBU? As a mum I genuinely wouldn't dream of putting my toast needs ahead of the dc's lunch needs 🤔

I’ve had this before where have had to use the end of the milk for the kids’ breakfast or bread for their lunches. I think women just put the kids first no matter what. Have to add dh isn’t usually selfish-if there was eg one of a packet of crisps for example he’d share

That would incense me. We were staying with friends and had run out of milk due to unexpected visitors and shops were shut. My 2 year old was heartbroken looking for milk for bed and our friends said nothing except to say the milk they had was for the mams cereal the next day so they couldn't give us any. The visitors were their relations. I've never forgiven them for that. No excuse to leave kids without.

Did he at least give them extra of something else, or some money to buy something from the shop / school canteen?

Obviously you now know the DCs come after him when it comes to food, as far as he's concerned. Selfish arse. I'd tell them to get their own lunches sorted before dad gets up in future.

Yeah this isn't on. Unless he took them to buy a sandwich on the way to school (which he didn't). He could have used the bread for their sandwiches and got himself a Costas on the way to work!
