Is it the standing charges?

Sirzy · 30/06/2022 16:50

Some will be the standing charges which are extortionate

JazzHandsYeah · 30/06/2022 16:51

Standing charges. Such a rip off.

Mememene · 30/06/2022 16:53

Check the standing charges shouldn't be more than 40 to 50 pence a day. Then fridge freezer?

WinterMusings · 30/06/2022 16:57

If you were going to turn everything off, including the fridge, why didn't you just turn it off at the consumer unit (fuse box)??

as everyone has said though, standing charges will be a good percentage of that.

did you note down your readings? How many units did you use!

Standing charges plus fridge/freezer/smart meter etc.

ivykaty44 · 30/06/2022 22:17

I am not disputing the changes, just that what is it that is running and costing money?

Obviously its not a large sum of money £4 for electric for the week, just where is it being used when the sockets are turned off including the fridge

Have you got a smart meter?

If not what I'd do is turn off all the electricity at the mains for as long as you can, an hour if possible or overnight would be better. Take a timed and dated photo, when you go to bed, if at night, do the same in the morning. If the meter has moved with the mains off, then report it to your energy company as a faulty meter.

Be sure it's faulty first though or they could charge you for the engineers visit.
