For wanting me to sign in so that I can use? Why do they need my data?

You're presumably an adult, you can delete whatever apps you like from your phone.

Zonder · 30/06/2022 07:45

Apps generally want you to sign in to use them. You can always use the website instead.

SavoirFlair · 30/06/2022 07:45

I agree with you it’s ridiculously intrusive for such an app.

PizzaPatel · 30/06/2022 07:45

I deleted the app when I got sent a push notification at an ungodly hour about the royal family

Momicrone · 30/06/2022 08:00

You don't have to have your phone by your bed

balalake · 30/06/2022 08:06

Reasonable, you can have it as a favourite bookmarked page via your internet browser instead (which is what I do).

So that you can customise it so it displays the things you are interested in

Digital identity and social credit system.

Sign ins allow apps to know who they are talking to - so if you are a football obsessive for example it will know to make related content easier to find than if it knows you are someone who has never clicked on a football article in your life.

Thestoppedfan · 30/06/2022 08:57

I deleted it too.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 30/06/2022 08:58

I'll make my own mind up about that. There is no need for the BBC to be pissing about wasting time and money trying to decide on my behalf.
