This isn't looking good is it? Pregnancy test related

I took a pregnancy test on a whim on Sunday night before our first IVF consultation for baby number 2. I had just finished what I thought was a very light period that started early on 7dpo.

I got a shock when the test was a faint positive and I kept testing daily. With the lines progressing in darkness for the next 2 days however the test line has not gotten any darker since 12dpo. I was spotting for the first couple of days too.

I am 14dpo today and the tests look far too light for this point and just aren't progressing. Photo is of 12dpo and 14dpo. This is likely to be a chemical pregnancy isn't it? How long will it take me to start testing negative?

TIA!

The 14dpo does look darker than the 12 to me. I'd leave it for at least a week, I know that's hard but I wouldn't expect a huge increase in darkening within 2 days anyway. It could be a chemical yes but it could not be. Testing every two days will send you crazy.

Thank you. I am wondering if the GP might give me a blood test to put my mind at rest given that she knows we are in the process of infertility treatment

They might. You'd need a blood test and then to return in 2 days for another to see if HCG is rising or falling.

Good luck x

Keeping fingers crossed for you

Not necessarily. I think mine were still light at 14dpo with my last baby. Is that a FRER? Ive never found them to be really that sensitive and always had darker lines on cheaper tests. Good luck

Thank you - what an emotional rollercoaster! We were all geared up for IVF 😅

Yes it is! I had a much darker line by now with our first child but I know that every pregnancy is different so just hoping this one is just lower levels of HCG. It has managed to implant through some pretty heavy spotting so is a fighter!

I would leave it a week or so. What will be will be, you'll only stress yourself out. When I was trying to conceive tests weee about £12 each. Hope they're cheaper now!!

Thankfully you can get 2 for about £7 now or I would be bankrupt!!!
