Where to stay - London but outside congestion

landantan · 29/06/2022 20:41

Looking for somewhere to stay where I can drive to London but not deal with congestion zones or inner city driving.

Would Ealing be too far out? Anywhere closer coming from M4 direction?

Thanks

Depends if your car is ulez compliant! From M4 you can def get closer in than Ealing - depends what you’re coming in for. Will you need to access the tube into central London??

Momicrone · 29/06/2022 22:15

There are lots of train stations in london

GMH1974 · 29/06/2022 22:15

Where are heading to? How long are you staying for? Why not take the train from Reading or Slough or from wherever you’re starting from? London is a big place.

Chiswick or Richmond : )

HeliosPurple · 29/06/2022 22:53

Depends if you want to do other things. Chiswick and Richmond are on the river and have lots of green space so really lovely.

Hammersmith - bit closer in - big hotels
witn parking and good tube links

If you are not ULZ compliant look for hotels outside the North and South Circular. Much of Chiswick will be in the ULEZ zone to please do check your route very carefully.
Ealing is a great place to stay (but I am a local) With the Central District and Elizabeth Line from Ealing Broadway or various other neighbourhoods on the Picadally (Northfields South Ealing, Boston Mannor). Depending on your budget there are several chain hotels in Ealing Broadway, The Drayton Court in West Ealing, The Forresters (pub with rooms in Northfields /West Ealing).
You could also check out Brentford as there are several chain hotels on the highstreet. Brentford or Kew Bridge Stations would take you to Waterloo. Alternatively to the North of Ealing you could look at the Fox and Goose Alperton (Pub with rooms) which is close to Hanger Lane tube on the Central line. Not too much in the area but if you are only interested in being in then its not so mucj of an issue. The Bridge Hotel Greenford similar (not a great location but close to Greenford Station). I hope that this gives you a start. Pease do google map and use the North and South Circular road as your guide as to whether into the zone.
