To not know where to go in France?

I need to book a holiday for me and DH, 3 adult children plus 2 of their partners so need 5 bedrooms. DD plus her partner will be making their own way and the rest of us (5 adults) will probably drive.

We're looking for budget relaxation for 10 days at the end of July/ early August but ideally within walking distance of a village or shop/ bar so the non-drivers don't go stir crazy. Lakes or coast, something to do.

Ideally want to pay no more than £2500 for the house rental.

I currently have COVID and am losing the will to live having spent hours trawling through vrbo AND AIRBNB when I don't really know the best areas to look in.

Can anyone give me any ideas to narrow it down?
Either towns/ villages, areas, and good not-too-expensive villa holiday companies etc.? I would be very very grateful....

I think you are being very optimistic. Try northern France say Normandy or Brittany and see if you have any luck.

July or August, as it matters quite a bit. Seeing as the north all pile down to the south on or near Black Saturday which is the first Saturday in August.

@AlisonDonut Would black Saturday this year be 30 July or 6 Aug?
One of our DC can't get leave from work until 28 Jul so we were hoping to go for 10 nights from 23 July- 3 Aug so that she could have at least a few days, but it sounds like that would be difficult if black Saturday is Sat 30 July

La Tranche Sur Mer, it is a holiday area and has a great beach.
Long drive though.
Currently much of Northern France has the same colder-than-average weather system as we have.

Nothing in France is ever that easy!
