Tried posting on the secondary school board yesterday but no response.

We live a half hour drive from Perins, towards Basingstoke, and have visited Perins this week as son is coming to the end of year 5.

Does anyone have any recent experience of Perins, good or bad, they can share please? In particular would like to hear about whether it is has a high pressure environment academically, whether it is supposed to be cliquey, whether non-rugby players feel they fit in, etc.

Tia!

I live locally and it's very highly regarded in the area. I don't know anyone who plays rugby out of there. Where are they at the minute?

SuperSange they are at a village school that is quite rural so it would be a bit of a commute. I suppose I wanted to know if it was worth the commute if that makes sense!

Good to know it is still well regarded. Apparently they play a lot of rugby at perins? Which wouldn't suit my son but he will steer clear of sport wherever he goes, I should imagine!

I don't know how it compares to some of the Basingstoke schools, but I understand that they're not as good. So I've heard-I don't know how true that is. I've also heard that there's more trouble in those schools and the offenders transferred out to Perins. There's more concern locally about the Junior School than Perins-I'll be sending my son there in a few years without hesitation. And you're right, they can avoid sport wherever they go! Alresford Rugby club is just across the road in the playing fields.

SuperSange thank you that's really useful.

I'm not sure I like the vibe in Alresford... think I'm the type to go against the picture perfect middle class ideal!! We will see.

Hi OP, I'm fairly local to Perins. It is highly regarded in the area, and particularly for its sport. We would be choosing between Perins and another school when my DC are older and have discussed that we would choose Perins if DC are particularly sporty

I worked there for one year, albeit a while ago (2014? Maybe?). Its a lovely school. Beautiful campus, good behaviour from kids, lots of opportunities for sport, music etc. I remember someone once saying it was as close as you get to private school without the fees. If I could send my child there, I would.

Thanks Dock that's really useful.

Might have to seriously consider Perins!
