I live in a touristy beach town each summer I have a string of family/friends who come by for 2/3 days visit so it's air B nB plus meals for me all summer. My OH says it's nice for people to visit but am fed up! He helps a lot n never complains,! Grrr

We had this when we lived abroad. I went through a stage of constantly washing sheets and going to the supermarket.
In the end I'd had enough and said no, sorry we weren't free for visitors.
Luckily, my DH was on side as he was often working when we had visitors and it's hard to work all day and be the host with the most at night.

LilianLenton · 27/06/2022 22:13

When you say your DH "helps a lot" what do you mean? Because it doesn't seem to involve cooking for them? If he's the person agreeing to them visiting when you aren't happy with the arrangement, why is he not doing the cooking & any additional work that's created? Maybe he doesn't complain because he's not got very much to complain about?

Learn to say no. Its refreshing once you do.

Next time some cf tries to blag a free trip send a price list.
Yabu to be such a doormat..

Wolfiefan · 27/06/2022 22:17

Why don’t they cook, take you out for meals, clean up after themselves?

Sleepingsatellite1 · 27/06/2022 22:18

That’s cheeky of them, if I wanted to visit someone I’d book an actual air bnb near them.

Greensalad · 27/06/2022 22:23

DH goes shopping drives them around. Maybe it's just my family n I laws that are like this.. If we visited them they would do same for us but we don't visit so our loss I guess

Move to a smaller house maybe? One with no spare rooms😃

ShirleyPhallus · 27/06/2022 22:33

I love how you say “they visit!” as though you’re completely passive and helpless in this situation.

If only there was a way in which you could tell them it wasn’t convenient for them to visit…. 🤔

parietal · 27/06/2022 22:41

go away yourself. then they can't come and visit.
