To join a dating app?

I'm separated from my husband of 10 years. Thinking of joining a dating app. But my friends think they are just for hookups (which I don't want!) and not for serious dating and relationships. So should I avoid them? Or are some better than others?

I married a man 7 weeks ago. I met him on tinder 4 years ago. My daughter is engaged to someone she met on bumble and my son has a lovely girlfriend he met on tinder. Another friend met her partner on a dating site. So no not all hookups but all of us have had our experiences. Advice. Message lots of people. Do lots of dates don't stick to one at a time. My husband spoke to and dated loads of people before the perfect one(me🤣) came along.

In maybe 5 years of using them I’ve had 3 first dates with men who were okay, but no sparks. I think your friends’ opinion is a little extreme. You’ll quickly work out who to avoid.

Hinge is the one I’ve liked the most for layout and how it isn’t so much driven by ‘likes’/popularity ratings.

My sister went on two ‘1st dates’ and got the impression Tinder was a hookup site. She didn’t want to cancel her third planned ‘1st date’ last minute, so went along and met her lovely husband
Around same time my friend set me up a POF account and I met my husband

Thanks all I will give it a go! Sounds like it's possible to find a good catch on any dating site (you just may have to see a few frogs first!)
