Minoxidil and future pregnancy

Sorry not AIBU but posting for traffic.

I've recently been diagnosed with female pattern hairloss (androgenetic alopecia), and been advised by dermatologist to use minoxidil foam purchased over the counter - apparently they are no longer able to prescribe it.

Firstly I wanted to ask if anybody uses this and how successful it has been? Also how frequently you use - the derm said twice a day but looking online a lot of the formulations seem to suggest just once.

Secondly, has anybody used it for a few months and then stopped for a pregnancy. What has this experience been like? I am not currently ttc but hoping to start in the next 3-6 months. As you can't take this medication while pregnant and it takes a while to start worming, I'm wondering if it is even worth starting now? on the other hand, if I wait until after pregnancy and breastfeeding, my hairloss will inevitably be much worse so maybe even a few months now may slow down those hair follicles dying? I'd consider waiting to ttc up to 9 months but not any longer than this really - also aware the effects of the drug stop when you stop using it...

Any advice welcome or experience - thanks
