Shelf in shower

Do people not have any kind of shelf in their shower?

In the last month I have stayed in 2 hotels and 4 Airbnb apartments and not one of them has any sort of shelf in the shower. The only place I could put my shower gel, shampoo, conditioner was on the shower base. Bad enough in a large shower enclosure but in the small ones I hate that the water runs over my head and down my face.

It has annoyed me in the past but a month of having nowhere to put anything has really irritated me.

Right - which of you here is responsible?

Oh I absolutely hate this too. One of my real pet peeves. You’re totally justified in being annoyed. I think it’s because it’s so much simpler to build shower cubicles without them. But it’s such poor design!

Even the shower cubical in our last holiday caravan had a shelf!

You can get really good stick on/suction shelves too, so there's no excuse!

How odd - I have never had a shelf in a shower cubicle! In my old house, we had an en suite shower but there were no shelves in that. We had a sort of chrome hanging arrangement to put shower gel etc in.

Me too. I absolutely hate it.

Whenever I see a newly fitted shower without a recessed tiled shelf for shampoo etc, I wonder what the home owners were thinking. It’s cheap to do & so much more convenient than trying to keep Amazon suction shelves attached.

My new house with a pretty expensive bathroom doesn’t have one but then again the previous owner also didn’t believe in fitted hand towel rails and toilet roll holders.

I wouldn't mind if they at least had one of those chrome hanging things but to have nothing is so annoying.

I am guessing that the owners of the Airbnb's don't have a shelf (or anything else) in their own shower or surely they would make sure there was something.

The other thing, although not so annoying to me, is no hook on the back of the bathroom door to hang your dressing gown
