To ask for suggestions for a 'street feast'

What's easy to prepare and not too expensive? We are having a street party. I'm out the night before so if it was possible to prepare in advance even better.

There will be all ages there.

Money is tight so nothing wildly expensive please.

If children there too, I'd make a ton of chocolate crispie cakes. Lidl/Aldi chocolate is cheap and good. Adults love them too tho would never admit to it!

I have a thread similar, let me find for you

BBQ with just hotdogs salad and buns?

What do you want for a buffet lunch? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/4575400-what-do-you-want-for-a-buffet-lunch

Everyone bring sthg and put it on a shared table, sort of like a buffet
You 'll need to keep track of who is bringing what, to avoid bringing too much of same stuff.

It's quite a big street so we were told to all show up with anything - sweet or savoury.

We're doing Street Feast on Sunday too - I've bought some sausage meat, puff pastry and caramelised onion relish and will make sausage rolls - so quick to do and 20-25 minutes in the oven

Ooh, amazing, thanks!!

Sausage rolls are a great idea! I'd probably do 1 plate of savoury, and 1 of sweet so sausage rolls or chicken wings maybe? Then for sweet, crispy cakes or rocky road as they don't need any cooking. Or maybe Eton mess in paper cups as it's easy and berries are lovely just now!

A cracking potato salad. Google some German recipes, there's different types from different regions, not all are mayonaisy.

Unless you're sitting down with a knife and fork, you need things you can eat with your fingers.

I like bagizza - baguette sliced on the diagonal with tomato puree, pesto and cheese to make mini pizza slices, they need 5 - 10 min in the oven, dont drop as much as normal pizza and are cheap
