Why on earth does every hen do have to cost ££££ now?!!! Am I just tight? For context these are all different group of friends and totally normal salaries.

Just been invited on another hen, and whilst I'm grateful to be included the plans yet again are a 2 night stay away. Rough cost all in will be £500.

Another friend has just got engaged and is planning a 4 day wine tasting trip to France.

Two months ago I was on a 4 day hen that was meant to be in Spain but thankfully got changed to the UK.

I'm now just making excuses not to go but I don't want to offend anyone. But what happened to just a night out? Why do they all have to be so big and expensive?

YANBU. We live in very competitive, egocentric times, people racing to outdo each other and prove we are living our 'best lives', which really means throwing as much money as we can at things to feel better. Sounds like you're the kind of person who is still in touch with what really matters. You can't put a price on that.
