To be childless by choice but still know what I would have called a baby girl?

Crazy I know.

I would have called her Adeline.

Maybe in another lifetime.

Do you have pets? If so, just use it for the next cat/dog/goldfish you get?

I'd have used Valentina.

Valentina Tereshkova was the first woman in space.

I never wanted children but knew what my DD would be called. She's 11 and is called that.

I mean I know what colour my castle would be but I don't have one.

I have a cat but my dream dog would have been a black standard poodle called Balthazar. Sadly such a dog would be too big and powerful at my stage of life.

I'm childfree by choice - my pets get my favourite names instead.

StridTheKiller · 24/06/2022 05:20

@MrsTerryPratchett Same 😅

I'm also childless by choice but think of baby names. I don't know why. I guess it's a kind of musing more than anything.

Alexaplaysomething · 24/06/2022 05:42

I was once told by a child free by choice friend I wasn't allowed to use her baby girl name. That one got the biggest internal eye roll I've ever done. I didn't like the name anyway as it happens but she tried to claim it for a child that would never exist.

Imaginary children are the best option for me, all the joy and none of the mess and expense Grin I fell in love with the names Xiomara (thanks Jane the Virgin!) And also Maxx for a boy.

Goatinthegarden · 24/06/2022 05:53

I’ve named my next ten cats and every breed of imaginary dog I’ll never actually own has a different name. I’ve also named several children.

In reality, I’ll be sticking with the one cat I already have.

Seriously, you lack ambition. Grin I have a whole alternative family. I tell my real family about them when I'm feeling particularly let down by them. My ar sons like gardening and one enjoys poetry and will discuss literature with me. I also have a daughter who plays the flute (real family are all drummers). We are all very fond of them.

@Porcupineintherough

On another forum, one for teachers, a teacher and her best friend who was also a teacher used to talk about work so much their non teaching husbands made up their own class to discuss.

I still have baby name lists even though there will probably be no more babies here!

We're childless by choice and our dog is called our favourite name! She meets a lot of kids with the same name when we're out and about!!
