Found this critter walking up my kitchen window this evening. Slightly apprehensive to know what it is but feel I should check. Any one able to shed some light?

Size approx 3-4mm.

Break it to me gently please!

Ooh, intriguing. I was going to say ladybird larva, but it doesn't look spiky enough.

The four spots remind me of a domino beetle, but they’re larger and not native to the UK.

We've had biscuit beetles invade in the past but this is different. Those white dots should be a giveaway to someone!

Had another photograph session & hoogle, thinking it may be a 6 legged spider beetle?

You can get an app point ur phone at bug and it will tell you what it is:-)

It looks like a white spotted sap beetle. They go for ripening fruit, beer, vinegar, fruit juice etc.

Comes up as an unidentifiable member of the ptinus family. I don't know if they are anything to be worried about or not yet. The 6 spotted spider beetle is in the ptinus family but there's not much about this particular version of that insect group that I can find.

Why would you be worried about it? Just looks like quite a pretty beetle.

Incase it's anything that can cause damage like a wood borer, an infestation that would need pest control or something that indicates a bigger issue for the critter to have come into my house at all.
