That “people need to stand up & say the economy is broken, society is broken, wages have been falling, corporate profits are going through the roof & it has got to stop. We have got to have a country thats run for the people who live in it"

i think the government have been shown time and again they are running the country to line the pockets of their rich mates

The populace could help itself by voting Labour, Green or Lib Dem. The collapse of the Red Wall during the height of Boris's blatant greed just baffled me.

When will people learn? How much do they want to have removed from them before they work out that services shouldn't be profit-based - they should be based around meeting a community's needs; leaders should be elected because they want to serve the people, not rule them and use power to gain excessive wealth.

Capitalism needs to be restructured so companies are not legally obliged to put sharehold profits before the welfare of their workers and value to their customers.

All round, pretty straightforward and obvious approaches to running a country well. But can't happen if people idolise self-serving, greedy and amoral narcs just because they were a bit funny on telly years ago.

Few seem to care.

Lots seem quite keen to keep things as they are.

I presume because they see an attack on the billionaires as an attack on them too.

If they go after the billionaires money they'll come after mine next

People just arnt motivated to vote and the Conservative party know how to get the votes

For example in my area there was a local plan which builds on our fields im not a nimby but there are so many reasons environmental no infrastructure tons of brownfield sites locally to name a few as to why this field should not be built on labour AND THE GREEN PARTY voted for it to go ahead to Conservative party voted against guess who made gains in the local elections?

They know how to get votes

Of course he's correct.

Anti-union sentiment nowadays is really frightening. The Tories have done a number on collective action.

Dotjones · 23/06/2022 09:15

None of the main political parties will do any better. They're all corrupt and self-serving. Whoever wins at the next election, normal working people will be poorer than they are today.

There is no incentive for those with wealth or power to relinquish their position of advantage. Why would they? Short of a full-on revolution nothing will change the inevitable process of the vast majority getting poorer.

In this country the chances of a revolution are incredibly small given our tight restrictions on ownership of weaponary. Anyway, most of us are too busy working to stay afloat to revolt - protest is a privilege of the wealthy.

This is how I feel the Tory party treat the average Brit

the other parties may have their faults but not to the dire consequences that we are being ruled by now

@ivykaty44

I've been arguing this exact point on the public sector thread but it keeps getting ignored

Topgub

we need a rebalance

presently we have families working 80 hrs a week and using food banks but those same families don’t want to stand up and say “ this isn’t fair & we need change”

I don’t understand 🤷‍♀️
