To think the fuel & flights crisis is very convenient in the context of climate change

Disclaimer: not a conspiracy theorist! I do believe in man-made climate change and welcome individual and business initiatives to cut down on carbon emissions.

What do people think of the convenient timing of the fuel crisis forcing people to use less petrol and heat their homes less, food prices going up encouraging more people to grow their own or shop more seasonally, flights a mess encouraging more to holiday in the UK, etc.? There just seems to be so many drivers forcing us to adapt our lifestyles I'm not sure it's entirely accidental.

So you think Putin invaded the Ukraine because he's a closet Green, do you?Confused

I suppose you could make that case for Gove pushing for Brexit though...Grin

Throughout the last 100 years or so, most crises or topics in the news disproportionately benefitted one or two industries - defence industry and big pharma being the two notable ones. It is not to be a conspiracy theorist to ‘follow the money’.

These things don’t just happen by accident. And always seem to result in a payday for one particular industry that’s amazing at lobbying.

I know what you mean. But nine times out of ten, correlation is not causation.

No. I think if the government actually came out with some sort of measure to curb flying like carbon rationing or increased taxes for environmental reasons people would have to swallow it. And I do believe most people would come around. Same with any inconvenient green change (dreading heat pumps myself); we moan, but we adapt.

Not to mention that such a move would be very well received by many.

The current situation may be a shambles but it’s clear to me that we’re being encouraged to fly.

I think the continued push to get people back into offices, when their jobs can be done from home, is at odds to your theory OP. Although I've considered all sorts myself over these last few weird years.

It seems like an ovey complicated way of doing things to me.

Who do you think orchestrated it OP?
