Parent - Stage 3 kidney failure

I’ve posted here for traffic.

I’ve just been informed that one of my parents has been diagnosed with stage 3A kidney failure.

The hospital will be doing some tests, bloods, a scan etc.

My parent is only early 60’s. Does anyone have any experience of kidney failure? I’m really worried about them, they sent me links to read up on it and on the prognosis it says they may only live up to 11 more years!? Is this true?

Can they stay at this stage with medication and not have it progress or is it inevitable?

Can I offer up one of my kidneys if/when the condition progresses to stage 4?

I’m really worried about all of this, neither of them are very healthy and this is just another health issue on top of the rest.

Hi OP. My Dad has stage 4 kidney failure and is on dialysis and the transplant waiting list (he's 72). In answer to your question if your parent does what the doctors tell him re diet and is on medication they won't necessarily progress to stage 4 and the condition can be managed. If you are on Facebook there are some good support groups 💐
