Hi everyone, not sure if this is the correct topic or if anyone can help but here goes!
I'm an estate agent and due to go off on maternity in November. I'm aware that I'll miss out on commission whilst off as will not be actively selling and on SMP, but I am currently working on and selling new development plots that are due to complete the start of next year /Spring 2023 and if I wasn't heading on maternity commission for these sales would be paid then.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation, where they got paid commission on maternity? It just seems unfair to do the work now, 90% of it anyway and not get paid for this just because I am off.
I'm currently the only female sales agent in our office and the first female sales agent to take maternity also, I've asked my boss about this and they will look into it but they're not sure as this is the first time for them too. I guess it's good to know any counter arguments if they tell me no.
The joys of being a female, the men luckily enough can take a month or so off including AL and paternity and not have their commission payments affected at all.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks!
