Could I have adenomyosis??

ihateendometriosis · 20/06/2022 19:19

Hello,

I have got endometriosis - had a chocolate cyst, blocked tube with hydrosalpinx, endo is in my pouch of Douglas etc.

Currently waiting a laparoscopy to remove my blocked tube and the endo.

I've recently became very concerned that I could have adenomyosis too (Google has taken over my life.)

I tend to have brown spotting 5-7 days before my period.

Other than that I have very minimal pain from the endometriosis. I used to have painful periods around 3 years ago but now the pain is manageable.

My periods are not heavy, I'd say they are pretty normal. I very very rarely get clots and when I do they are minor.

My biggest fear is that the spotting before my period could actually be adenomyosis and I'll be infertile. I've not had a baby yet.

Can somebody please tell me any experiences with adenomyosis or if this sounds like it ???

@goldsparklyChocolate

Has this impacted your fertility at all if you don't mind me asking?

My period pain is mild x

Adenomyosis does not always cause, or mean infertility.

ihateendometriosis · 20/06/2022 19:35

@Cma1988

Really?! I know so so little about it.

I also have had an mri and it wasn't mentioned then but it did say I have endometriosis in and around my uterus (?!)

I have suspected adenomyosis, a touch of endo (thanks consultant, really informative) and have had polyps and a benign mass removed. The thing about adenomyosis is that it is almost impossible to accurately diagnose currently!

My symptoms throughout have been bloating, bleeding before and after period (brown blood) and mid cycle red spotting. I had a lot of clots when I was younger but since having the mirena I have minimal periods.

I have had 2 children and this has been going on since age 13. Try not to worry just continue having investigations!

No I had 2 dc after the diagnosis so it doesn’t seem to have caused any problems

Porridgeislife · 20/06/2022 19:46

Endometriosis commonly causes spotting before your period. The presence of chocolate cysts and hydrosalpinx indicates reasonably severe endo and that itself is enough to cause fertility issues (but not always!). The MRI would have spotted adenomyosis if you had it.

I have adeno, endo, cysts, fibroids and blocked tubes. The latter made me infertile. Also have low AMH and Papp-a. But IVF circumvented all my problems immediately and I got pregnant with each fresh cycle. Husband is doing bedtime with three year old dc and I have a newborn snuggling me now. Hope that helps OP. Xx

@AgnesNaismith

Thank you!

My most worrying, but painless, symptom is this brown spotting! I always assumed it could be down to the endo or even stress but I've ended up in a Google rabbit hole x

@Porridgeislife

Oh no do you think? :(
The chocolate cyst wasn't on my ovaries.

I have such minimal pain with the endo (have had bad pain in the past but past few years I've improved drastically without any surgeries/hormones etc!) So it's all very confusing.

Mri results haven't informed me of adeno or suspected adenomyosis - so I hope that means I won't have that as well! X

I have adenomyosis and also PCOS. TTC for over 20 years. One ectopic and 2 miscarriages. No live births. I have now accepted I will remain childless.

I have painful periods and they can be heavy. I constantly gave a heavy, dragging feeling deep down in my abdomen. Similar to a full bladder but in a different location.

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 20/06/2022 20:39

Many years ago I set up a facebook page called 'adenomyosis miracles'
I passed this on to a wonderful lady who has worked on the page so much. The women are so so supportive. They are or all have been concerned about their fertility.
Pop over there, you will see adeno is a bitch but it doesn't always mean infertility. Xx

Idiotintraining · 20/06/2022 20:42

I have either endo or adenomyosis hasnt been decided. Gp said endo and the scanner said adenomyosis. Gp said I could have both. I have bowel bleeding during my period that's all.

Thank you so much - I have just joined the group xx

I have adenomyosis.

I had continuous very painful bleeding with bloating and huge clots every 10-15 minutes and that's 6 clots each time.

The clots looked like someone had ripped a pot of jelly into a pad.

I'm having a hysterectomy next week due to how debilitating it became.

EweCee · 20/06/2022 21:03

I had very debilitating and painful endo and adeno (although gynae said adeno can only be truly diagnosed with a hysterectomy!) but got pregnant a lot quicker than anyone thought was possible considering my gynae issues.

Hi dear, what is your age, i just had failed FET after PGD embryo transfer, i had chocolate cyst 3cm in ovary and may b hydrospline (dr not confirm a liquor sac), and a submucosal fibroid of 2cm, dr treated somehow with medicines before FET but my failed and I am very disappointed, what would be the reason may be.... my age was 35 when i stated process and i was 38 at FET

Fraaahnces · 31/10/2022 02:45

Most people I know with Adenomyosis have painful, HEAVY periods. My DD2 has it, I had it until my uterus was binned. (So sad, not) Mirena helped.

Passanotherjaffacake · 31/10/2022 04:18

34 for first baby, 37 for second. Hope that helps!

Hi All,

I know this thread is an old thread but I’m currently struggling with secondary infertility after a second trimester loss 2 years ago and have been unable to get pregnant since.

Straight after my MC the texture of my periods changed then around 5 months after my MC I started brown spotting for a whole week before my period. Like clockwork it would start at 7 dpo. Finally went private to get some suggestions and had a hyterscopy done and 5 months of clomid and progesterone. Progesteone stopped the brown spotting but still no pregnancy. Last October had a consult for IVF and was told I had “suggested adenomyosis” from my scans! Dr tried to reassure me. Anyway my fresh failed round was at the end of Jan. I’ve got 6 blasts in the freezer and now doing a down Reg before my FET so starting prostap soon which is a long process. If this doesn’t work then I’m going to do a lap to check for endo too.

Any help because I’m constantly going down a google rabbit hole thinking it may not work etc and thinking my MC caused it as I was 19 weeks so I had to give birth and had an infection.

I just feel lost and so upset.

Hi @Loz2467 i just wanted to check in to see how the down regulation has worked for you? I am in a similar situation myself and waiting for doctors consult and think down reg and frozen transfer is what they will offer
