Swimming have got it right

Finally a sport prepared to use common sense and recognise women as women.

I come at this as a 6ft 2 woman who is stronger than a lot of men, can throw further and lift more than some but I do not have and never will have the same strength and speed as the average 6ft 2in man.

Why because my body developed as a woman, with all the advantages oestrogen and progesterone gave me. I can not compete with men because at the end of the day my biology is female.

Why am I tall - my Dad was 6ft 3 and my mother 6ft - a combo of Dutch and Scandi genes.

Can the rest of the sports follow swimmings lead.

Trans women/men can have their own races and compete on an even palying field of trans but biological women can compete against other biologcal women and not hope that hormone manipulation can over come year of development and a bloody Y chromosome.

Admire Sharron DAvies for sticking her head above the parapet - denied Gold Olympic medals to drug cheats and standing up for non drug enhanced/disenhanced people.

Yes the right decision was made today. Let’s hope the other sports organisations follow. Well done To those that have made this decision and those in the background,

Wasn't the same thread just posted here like 20 mins ago?

Blinkingbatshit · 19/06/2022 22:36

Yes, thoroughly grateful to those prepared to fight for the rights of women to compete on an even playing field. Should never have got this far in the first place.

DorothyZbornakIsAQueen · 19/06/2022 22:56

Sharron Davies has been an absolute tour de force over this.

Of course the right decision has been made. How we got here in the first place, was baffling.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 19/06/2022 23:01

Completely agree! Well done FINA. Hoping more governing bodies start to take this approach

UrsulaPandress · 19/06/2022 23:05

Yup. Bloody fantastic. And thank you Sharron Davies for keeping up the good fight.

UrsulaPandress · 19/06/2022 23:06

And who the actual fuck has voted YABU?

🤔

greenpinkredwhiteyellow · 19/06/2022 23:07

Thank fuck one sports body has finally seen sense. After they let the swimmers struggle and be the first to speak up and get harassed as a result. I hope more sports bodies protect their female athletes and give TM/TF a chance to compete fairly too.

Yes its brilliant news

Rainbowshit · 19/06/2022 23:11

This is absolutely the right decision. It's absolutely crazy that it was even debated. Hopefully other sports will follow their lead.

There's one on the same subject from a different OP with a title which doesn't make it clear what it's about, is that the one you mean?

Anyway, not surprising if there's a few duplicates on this subject - many women are pleased to see a sensible decision rather than trashing women's sports.

Mariposista · 19/06/2022 23:44

I am a competitive swimmer and we really welcome this news. Our coach says ‘you can so and be what you want in your private life, man woman or crocodile if you fancy it, but keep these things out the pool’.

maddening · 19/06/2022 23:51

Yanbu, However it does bring the paradox of the fact that giving dc puberty blockers and cross sex hormones as part of trans affirmative medicalisation is in itself grotesque and should be outright banned.

Plus I am not convinced it is only puberty, baby boys are bigger, pre-puberty boys are on average bigger and stronger, I do not think you can trans out the advantage even without the immorality of giving dc these drugs and medical treatments.

I worry that this may fuel a greater push at transing dc early.

I saw rhis on the news and came to find the thread. Yay!
