Trying to keep my shit together

My dcs have really tested my patience today.

They have been playing up and winding each other up today. Went out with my dad for father's day (their grandad). They kept running off and not sitting at the table (they're 6 and 10, not little). The oldest one was sniggering inappropriately and saying stupid things like laughing at the number 69. He almost ruined lunch to be honest.

They lost bits of their toys and blamed each other. They got home. Started fighting over drinks etc. I'm just fed up of them today.

How to I get to the end of day without losing my cool?

I know - and it can be really hard when children get over-excited .

But tell them to stop? Sometimes children just need to be told, because they've got so involved in their own emotions/ excitment that they need bringing back down to earth.

That's what parents are for. You're the adult here and you are the one who lays down the boundaries for what is acceptable behaviour. If this behaviour isn't acceptable, then you tell them it's not ! And say it in a tone of voice so that they know you mean it .........

Thanks. We're in the park walking dogs. They're still being dickheads. They've broken a dog toy now. I'm taking deep breaths. I've showted twice. Roll on bedtime.
