Is this a chest infection or normal cold ?!

Hey everyone on holiday in Jamaica so can't just run to my GP right now I have came down with a bad cold but it's really chesty I did a covid test and negative

When I cough I bring up yellow phlegm but it's not very bright quite pale but it has some normal phlegm with it too

My chest doesn't feel tight and I generally feel like my normal self but the cough is the only thing that is bothering me it's very hacky and I bring phlegm us most of the time especially early in the morning and sometimes I'll be coughing so hard that I feels like I want to puke 😭

My partner tells me he doesn't hear me at all coughing while I'm sleeping which is strange

Not sure if I have a chest infection or what

Also forgot to mention that I'll bring up the yellow phlegm in the morning but during the day it's clear

So you thought you'd ask doctor Internet? Go to the local doctor using your health insurance...

Sounds like a normal cough/cold to me but I am not a doctor.

When I’ve had chest infections in the past the phlegm has been green and my breathing is more laboured and sort of crackles. I can hardly sleep and need to sit up to get any sleep at all.

Do you have a fever? If the stuff you’re coughing up is yellow you probably need antibiotics.

Also the more you cough the more you will irritate your throat and need to cough. Try having a drink when you get the urge to cough.

@Sapphirejane that's the thing all night I'll be coughing very bad and I'll be awaking but when I do end up falling asleep i won't cough while sleeping my partner says

Sounds liens normal cough but even a dr couldnt say one way or the other from what you've written. Pop to the local clinic to get examined if you're worried.

No expert but likely more viral. No need for abx at this stage. If fever develops, you get short of breath, noisy breathing and/or breathing faster or symptoms worsen then I'd seek medical support.
Manage the symptoms---hot water with lots of honey and lemon to soothe throat, cough and to break up phlegm. Paracetamol if sore throat from coughing.

Just sounds like a cough to me.
