Yabu: This is the ideal way to eat, what's the problem?

Yanbu: Fucking savages.

What's meant to be the rationale behind it?

Because if it's supposed to be low-stakes, pressure off, everyone pitch in and encourage DV to try things, it clearly isn't working because she dished up separate spaghetti and grated cheese for the child just out of shot.

CourtneeLuv · 18/06/2022 22:24

Who knows. It probably originated on tiktok.

Obviously my post was meant to say encourage DC
Puts an entirely different slant on it 🤦‍♀️

BrylcreamBeret · 18/06/2022 22:29

Meh, don't care either way but the little boy eating spaghetti is adorable! Why is it so cute when wee kiddies eat unsteadily with forks and get it half on their face and half in their mouth? 😁

inappropriateraspberry · 18/06/2022 22:33

Horrible. I don't want my child's slobber on my dinner, thanks.

ComtesseDeSpair · 18/06/2022 22:37

It seems pointless in the sense that it seems to cause more mess and create more work than just using plates. The concept of having one communal pot / platter in the middle of the table which everyone eats from though isn’t unusual, customary in many cultures.

Inesyoucantbelieveawordshesays · 18/06/2022 22:40

She must burn through cling film.

I know, right?

Yet when I do it my DH tells me to sober up 🙄😂

mizzo · 18/06/2022 22:52

Nope. I thought grazing boards were bad enough, this is just gross.
Also what's with the plain spaghetti and cheese?

LoudingVoice · 18/06/2022 22:54

If the table’s clean why bother with cling film?

CourtneeLuv · 18/06/2022 22:55

I just remembered those nasty grazing boards and was about to mention them. They turn my stomach too.

popgoestheweezle · 18/06/2022 22:57

Wouldn't the cling film melt? Also surely you're more likely to eat some of it? At the end of the day you still have to wash up the sauce pans, chopping boards and cutlery so why not some plates as well!

Poppinjay · 18/06/2022 22:58

I think it's probably better to put things in serving dishes than have to cover your table with single use plastic for every meal.

HarrietSchulenberg · 18/06/2022 22:59

Christ on a bike. What's next - tip it in a trough and make everyone put their snouts in?

HeArInGhandsgirl11 · 18/06/2022 23:00

I couldn't cope with the double dipping

worraliberty · 18/06/2022 23:01

I don't see the point in the clingfilm.

Surely it's going to rip with all those forks around.

bloodywhitecat · 18/06/2022 23:02

That's a huge amount of spaghetti for two adults and two kids!

whenwillthemadnessend · 18/06/2022 23:05

@HarrietSchulenberg
😂😂😂

Easilystartled · 18/06/2022 23:05

Urgh, I’d rather not eat.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 18/06/2022 23:07

I assume it’s just some gimmicky thing from social media (probably TikTok), the spit on says ‘the messy dinner trend’ which make me think it’s an idea they E seen somewhere else and are doing as a one off for a bit of fun. I can see how the naughtiness of it might make a meal feel a bit exciting and create a fun memory for the kids. I doubt the family are eating like that every day.

BabyofMine · 18/06/2022 23:08

I think the cling film is to protect the table more than anything else.

Absolutely repulsive if you ask me.

CourtneeLuv · 18/06/2022 23:13

That's pretty much what they've done, imo.

All I keep thinking is the table must be damaged now with the heat of the food, plus scratched from the forks.

Bambaleyo · 18/06/2022 23:24

Yuk!

StopIWantToGetOffNow · 18/06/2022 23:25

Pigs round a trough springs to mind its vile!
