Just this. Alot of my shirts get stained under the arms. Today I bought some new ones. How to keep them nice.

For info I use a branded roll on deodorant. Does this happen to everyone. I get stains. I get them going stiff!!

Better deodorant- I use Sure Maximum Protection, it’s a lot better than standard roll ons

Wash clothes at higher temp

Buy natural fibres and choose styles/sizes that don’t cling to underarms

I use a spray on anti perspirant and soak them in Biotex before washing, but it can be difficult to find it in the shops. I get it at the International store or Amazon.

Thanks is there much difference between roll on and antiperspirant spray

Alot of my friends are heavy sweaters and in the summer time they stick a narrow, thin panty liner in the armpit bit of their tops. Saves any patches and seems to soak up well.

Never get dressed if your antiperspirant is not TOTALLY dry. Then put a dusting of talc over it. All my t-shirt armpits look like the day I bought them.

thenightsky · 16/06/2022 22:11

Sorry.. mean to add, its not the sweat that stains, its the product being wet and transferring to the fabric. That yellow stiffness is antiperspirant drying onto the material.

Dd's school shirts can get a bit yellow under the arms and I find hanging them in the sun bleaches it out a bit. It would also work to leave them by a sunny window

www.robertdyas.co.uk/hg-hagesan-sweat-and-deodorant-stain-remover I use this and it works on a particular blouse that got marked and hardened by wet deodorant.

Are you letting your roll on dry completely before getting dressed? I find they can take up to half an hour. I don’t have that sort of time so I use aerosols. I used to get the slightly crusty staining from the a roll on, but don’t with an aerosol.

Discovereads · 16/06/2022 22:39

It’s the anti-perspirant that causes the staining. If you just use deodorant without anti-perspirant, you don’t get staining.

Seriously? That can't be comfortable.

Thank you so much Star that looks amazing- just ordered as this is something that really affects my Dh s work clothes and T-shirts and we’ve tried so many things over the years.

Brody77 · 17/06/2022 06:56

That was to @IJoinedJustForThisThread , couldn’t do the quote Blush

NegativeNelly · 17/06/2022 07:17

You can get a spray in Sainsbury's I use it and spray it on the t-shirts arm pit areas and then put in washing machine I find this helps a lot!

carefullycourageous · 17/06/2022 07:20

I put vinegar on these areas before washing which helps remove the deodorant build up.

dottypotter · 18/06/2022 15:28

Thanks. Ive taken this on board now.
