Mum guilt

I don't really have any other mums to talk to/ask this, but how normal is it for mum guilt to absolutely consume you (especially after they're asleep at night?)

I can have amazing days with them where I don't lose my patience at all and I'll still be absolutely consumed/anxious with mum guilt come the evening, never mind on the days where I'm not 100%. I sometimes feel like I'm absolutely failing them even when I haven't done anything wrong.

It's got to the point where I'm not sure if it's normal to feel like that every night? What is normal when it comes to mum guilt? Hmm

No, it doesn’t sound normal. Do you have anxiety in any other areas of your life ?

This doesn’t sound normal at all.

I actually think social media makes it 100 times worse - if it’s not the perfect organic/homemade/calm mothers making you feel bad then it’s the ones who tell you feeling guilty for not being as good as them is fine.

Why do you feel “mum guilt”?

You’re the best mum for them because your theirs. If you are trying most of the time then you’re doing good. Stop the comparisons with others

@KangarooKenny yeah I do!

@RockAndRollerskate yes I do think social media is actually made it worse when I look in hindsight! If I'm not 100% patient, understanding, calm, funny, playful while getting all parenting decisions right, then I just feel like I'm completely failing them. Definitely feel like it's been made worse especially with tiktok!

Maybe try staying away from social media for a bit and focus on all the great stuff you do for and with your kids x
