C reactive protein. Could simply mean you have an infection or a number of things. Depends on what else is going on/what they’re investigating.

Inflammation / infection
how high is high?

LadyCampanulaTottington · 15/06/2022 20:40

Inflammation. Could be chronic or acute. You need two to be sure taken a couple of weeks apart.

bizzey · 15/06/2022 20:40

Infection I think .

39 isn't that high for an adult. It's raised but not concerning. I used to work on paeds and our cut off was 50, adults is a higher cut off.

Nightnurse123 · 15/06/2022 22:15

39 isn’t really high. Even the most innocuous infection like a cold can easily give you a CRP of 39. So don’t worry.

i routinely see patients with CRP over 100, especially those with chronic conditions.

Darbs76 · 15/06/2022 22:17

It’s inflammation and it can be anything, non specific so more tests needed. Mine is high when I get acute pancreatitis (very high) but it can go up a little with a cold my GP said.

Darbs76 · 15/06/2022 22:18

39 isn’t too worrying at all. Definitely needs looking at but but isn’t majorly worrying. It can drop down as quickly as it rose too

Bluebellbike · 15/06/2022 22:47

I have CRP tested with my 3 monthly blood and liver checks as I am on Methotrexate due to arthritis. Mine is regularly over 50 and has been 72 in a bad flare up.

Bluebellbike · 15/06/2022 22:49

However a normal result is less than 10.

Alcibiade · 15/06/2022 23:02

It's an inflammatory marker.

39 is not anything to worry about. Mild viral infection would give you that.

Thank you. I just have to repeat bloods again. Some other ones were not normal so hopefully I'll be back to normal soon.
