I do know a lot of it is very unfeasible but my understanding is that except from Big and Trey, none of them were wildly rich?

But all of their engagement rings were HUGE. Charlotte’s from Trey was realistic but the one she got from Harry would have costs over $100k and then Aiden , a furniture maker bought one, gave it to Steve and went out and purchased another one likely costing tens of thousands of dollars.

Yes I have too much time on my hands and yes it’s a tv show but this puzzles me.

I'm with you on Steve but not the others. Aidan was making designer furniture, the time they go to the show or whatever it is it looks really fancy. I have a friend whose DH makes furniture and earns £££. Harry is an upper East side divorce lawyer, he'll be loaded.

Wasn't Harry a hot shot lawyer? I don't actually remember the detail of Aiden's ring being expensive. Just that he traded it in for one that suited Carrie better.

Harry was a top divorce lawyer wasnt he, so likely a high earner.

The apartments are wildly oversized for New York as well.

I think Charlotte's ring from Trey would've been in the $20-30k mark. The only reason I think this is due to her giving it to Carrie to use as a deposit towards her apartment.

Assuming a deposit back then would've been 5-10% and the value of the home being $200-300,000 at the time? But I haven't a notion when it comes to US property values so am probably talking shite.

Aiden was definitely loaded because he bought the flat next to Carries and joined them together.

But SATC tendency towards being massively materialistic was what ruined it I think.

In just like that they are still living in Trey’s apartment and their daughters are sharing a room, I’m too invested but if money was no object, surely you’d move.

Aiden gave the original to Steve and the replacement doesn’t look cheap!

@JamesMartinsWaistcoat yeah that sounds right -that bit was more unrealistic because based on friends I know that get divorced, you don’t get much for a second hand diamond - even if big / good quality!

Trey’s apartment was a classic six…enormous by NYC standards and on the upper east side…
having just googled, there is one for sale at the moment for 2.25 million.

I actually live on the upper east side and I have no idea what a classic 6 is! I must add I am not living the SATC lifestyle, a rude awakening upon moving…

i get the impression from colleagues and in laws though that the 90s were a very fun time in the city!
