First world problems and all that but I need a rant about the ridiculousness. Just been for a pre show meal with a friend . The restaurant had an a la carte menu, a prix fixe and another set menu which was £22 for 3 courses including a glass of wine. We went for the last one. When it got to the third course I didn't like any of the 3 options so I asked if I could swap it out for one that was on the prix fixe and the a la carte - £1 cheaper than any of the options on the set menu so in my head they'd be saving money. Answer was no so I said I wouldn't have dessert - but I still expected to pay the £22. When the bill came they'd first charged us £54, but as we were about to query it he came back and said it was wrong and gave us another bill - £47.50. When queried it was because I hadn't had 3 courses so we'd been charged individually for everything. Nothing had been said by staff that this would happen when I'd refused dessert. They refused to amend the bill to £44 so we ordered the ice cream, they amended the bill and I told the bloke on the next table he could have it if it turned up !! The stupidity of some places rules astounds me.
