Breeders - season 2 (where the dad and teenage son fall out)

I’m really interested in general opinions on the dads behaviour on this tv show - breeders season 2. Haven’t seen season 3 yet. Long story short, reflecting back my dad was definitely abusive when I was growing up but I didn’t realise it at the time.

however i don’t think Paul (the dad) is a bad parent at all in this show? It blows my mind he moved out and they are allowing the teenage son to behave like that! He’s getting away with murder! I think the dad was right to come down hard on him, not that it was particularly hard at all! However I realise my radar might be very skewed as to what a normal family is, hence asking here!

so is he a bad parent? Abusive? Normal?

I didn't make it past series 1, they just seemed to hate the kids.

I only watched the first episode from season 1 and could not watch it anymore as I found it upsetting, I can only imagine how triggering it must feel to people that suffered childhood trauma….I was wondering how on Earth Netflix thought this series would be a success….

This is really surprising for me.I don’t remember season 1 to be honest but I think the dad is supposed to be ‘worse’ in season 2. I actually need to hear these answers as I don’t see the situation as abusive or bad parenting. Sounds like I need to reframe what I see as normal
