A really boring question

Does anyone else fill out a short tax return? I usually do one for a tiny amount of freelance work I do outside of my actual job. I moved house in March, updated my address via the government gateway and set up a postal redirect but haven't had a short tax return through the post yet. Should I have? I'm worried I've missed something and will get fined which will totally wipe out any money I made from the freelance. In previous years I think I've had to submit it by end of October if that helps. Has anyone else had theirs?

You can do it online. I did mine online. Easy to do

You don’t need to wait for something in the post. You can log in and do it anytime.

Oh gosh this is how out of touch I am. I've always done the paper version. Is it due now? And is it accessible through my government gateway account?

Yes, it should just be there on Gateway.

I didn't even know you had the option for a paper return any more!

Paper tax returns need to be in by the end of October, online ones by the end of the following January.

Assuming you are talking about the 21/22 tax year, you have plenty of time.
