Do you have any birthday traditions or make any new resolutions each year?

I know people often make new resolutions going into the new year but do you make any around your birthday time? Or do you have any traditions to start ‘your’ new year?

I do make new New Years Resolutions each year, but I rarely keep them longer than a week or two! If they're things I'm likely to keep, I don't really need to make them. My only birthday tradition is to ignore the hateful 'new age day' altogether; forbid anyone else to mention it or if possible know when it is; and try and forget its existence.

I make New Years resolutions but only fun ones. So things that I always say “oh I should do x” but never get around to. Resolutions should make you feel good about yourself not crap.

So one year it was to drink a martini because I’d never tried one. Another year I decided to buy more earrings as I wore the same pair all the time.

There's been years were I've put my trust in other people and had rubbish birthdays, so now I decide what I'm going to do. For the past few years I've vowed to not be the weight I am, but haven't achieved it. However, I've lost weight this year, I started my diet the day after my birthday and might join a gym in September. I don't so much make resolutions, more wishes for my birthday and new year and look at things I'd like to change or try. I've just started tai chi and will restart meditation this year. My birthday is the original new year in March, which works out better than January.
