Not sure if I've got the right word here, but I'm sure we all know the type. Those people who just have to question every.single.thing you say and express their disagreement. One or two will always pop up on even the most convincing YANBU threads (as I'm sure will happen on this one). "My husband punched me in the face. AIBU to divorce him?" "YABU. Are you sure he really punched you in the face? Maybe you're just overly sensitive. Make him a nice dinner and put more effort into your marriage."

If anyone has a more fitting word for this type of person please let me know as I know there is one but it's eluding me now.

Back to the point, my workmate is driving me insane. Anything those who aren't in her clan say is swiftly questioned and rejected. Every time. People have some great ideas, ones are all know will work, but she shuts them down. Or someone will have an opinion about something. Doesn't even have to be work related. She shuts it down.

It's to the point where people don't speak up anymore, including me. I'm looking for responses to her dismissiveness she can't shoot down. Suggestions?

Why does she have the say on which work related ideas are shut down? Could you take them over her head/ not involve her?

Well just push back? Some people question or oppose a suggestion to explore its potential.
