I'm considering using smol washing capsules. I believe they are only available online. It looks like they are more expensive per wash than most, but Aibu it's worth it to cut down on unnecessary packaging? Most importantly, are they any good on stains at low temperatures? Does anyone here use them?

I signed up for a free trial over a week ago and they still haven't arrived so I'm not a fan so far!

greensnail · 11/06/2022 19:26

I've used them for years, they're great.

blebbleb · 11/06/2022 19:27

I think they work well. Used them for years but cancelled as they're quite expensive.

Use them and love them. We also use the fabric conditioner and I’ve started using the multi surface cleaning tablet thingies which are great. Tried the glass cleaner and didn’t think much of it (have never found a glass cleaner that works better than a damp cloth). The bathroom cleaner was also excellent but I just got a box of the multi to do everything. The boxes are a complete nightmare to open which means they are totally child (and adult!) proof. Lots of flexibility with the app. You control how often you get an order and can do a “Send Now” option if you’re running low. We tend to do 30/40 degree washes and they work really well and smell lovely.

I've used the washing tablets (at 30 or 40) and the dishwasher tablets for years now. I think they are great. And it's easy to adjust your plan. Ive currently paused my subscription as they are a bit more expensive money-wise than other brands. Much much better for the environment.

Best spray cleaner I have for glass though is white vinegar by far.

chocopuffs · 11/06/2022 19:33

I saw them in sainsburys (admittedly a large one) today.

I’ve used the laundry tablets for a few years now and like them. I find them good on stains at low temps, but to be fair we aren’t hard wearing on our clothes with no toddlers etc . I also use the dishwasher tablets , like them as well. I’ve not had any bother with the deliveries etc apart from a small delay during first lockdown but was advised of the delivery chain issue by email and kept updated . They do both bio and non so you can have your preference . Id give them a go

PositiveLife · 11/06/2022 19:36

I really like them. I use the blue laundry ones (wasn't a fan of the green) and the dishwasher tablets.

Like a previous poster though, their postage is a bit slow. There's an option to "order now" if you want tablets before the usual subscription time but it takes about a week-10 days from requesting them.

HundredMilesAnHour · 11/06/2022 19:37

I tried them but found them less effective than Ariel. At 40 degrees, they didn't remove stains (and the stains weren't particularly bad) whereas Ariel did.

richardhammondsgoatee · 11/06/2022 19:38

I used to laundry pods but they didn't work well on DHs sweaty T-shirts (he's a mechanic) on low temperature.

The DW tabs were not good, we're in a very hard water area and the only ones I use are fairy as they are the only ones that work.

I like the idea of them but not good for us.

I use washing powder in a cardboard box so recyclable waste but Dw tablets still in plastic I'm afraid.

converseandjeans · 11/06/2022 19:51

I use smol but found on a quick 20 min wash the tab doesn't fully dissolve. Like them though.

RaininSummer · 11/06/2022 19:56

Used to use them but went off the smell and also found that they left slimy residue in the machine and on clothes. Wash at 40 degrees normally.

loafandleaf · 11/06/2022 19:57

I've used them for years and they're great! I really liked the fresh smell, especially the fabric conditioner.
We've had to recently switch to Ecover because my 3mo has really sensitive skin and I miss the smols!

Still use the dishwasher tablets though

Octomore · 11/06/2022 19:58

I've used them for a while and like them. Also use the dishwasher tablets, which are great

I do an empty hot wash once a month to clean any residue from the interior of my washing machine, so I haven't had any issues with that.

I like their dishwasher and non bio tablets.
