Reading a week-old newspaper which is featuring photographs about places celebrating the royal jubilee. There's a photograph from a bar in Santa Monica, California, called 'Ye Old King's Head', with its Union flag bunting. This led me to look up the place on Tripadvisor as I've had three holidays in Santa Monica and visited that place each time, so wanted to see photos.
The 'scary' part is a banner came up on Tripadvisor that said, "The both of you could use a trip", and to 'download the app' to 'Get the holiday you deserve'. The scary part isn't 'download the app', or 'Get the holiday you deserve'; it's "The both of you could use a trip". How does Tripadviser know it was 'the both of us' visiting', rather than family, friends, etc? I know I'm a bit paranoid about technology, but it's not like I've ever used Tripadvisor to organise anything (if you even can?) But, to be fair, the 'both of us' do need a trip to get away from reality 😧.
