Teenage Deodorant

Not really an AIBU but IHBU.

My OH who is in his early 60's has been using Lynx deodorant for years. He didn't really believe that it would make him an object of ridicule until he watched QI a couple of nights ago where one of the panel was joking about teenage boys and their copious use of Lynx.

In all honesty I have mentioned this to him before, the fact that it is associated with teenagers, and have bought various other deodorants like Right Guard for him to try but they all smell horrible in both his opinion and mine so he just carried on with the Lynx.

He has in the past had some posher deodorants like Calvin Klein or Lacoste but they cost a fortune and so he goes back to Lynx.

Despite the lovely idea that his pong might induce teenage girls to chase him down the street (he wishes) he is now thinking he should make more effort to find an alternative smell.

Can anybody recommend a normal mens deodorant that won't break the bank?

The Dove Men one (in grey packaging) smells alright if you/he wants another spray.

Or roll-on Sanex is good too. It doesn't have a scent but is kinder to skin than the sprays.

Both about the same price as Lynx (the Dove can be more but it's quite often on offer in Boots, Superdrug or the supermarket).

If he likes the smell then I don't see the problem.

The L'Oréal Men Expert deodorants smell nice, but if he likes his current one then so what. Lynx Africa will always transport me back to Friday night youth club!

i know plenty of men who use lynx at middle age, I never saw them getting ridiculed for it. I don't think anybody notices as long as they don't stink of bo.

I suspect Lynx will become the equivalent of what Old Spice or Brut was to middle aged men in my youth and teenagers wont be smelt dead with it on. Old Spice is nice though and still available.

L'Oréal men expert in this house too, the yellow one.

Thanks for the recommendations so far and to the people who have said if he likes it then its fine.

That's my view as well really. I don't mind that much.

It did make me laugh that he only really took any notice when it was somebody on the TV though Aisling Bea.

He's happy with his Lynx, let him be

Georgeskitchen

I agree with you but he actually asked me to do this thread in the hope that peoples recommendations might help. He hasn't tried the Loreal ones so it has helped already.
