Leave husband … scared

i want to leave my husband as he has never stood up for me. Everything else aside he never stood up for me when a family member sexually assaulted me. I have tried to live with it but it’s come to a point where I cannot ignore it as it keeps coming back to me. However, I’m scared of being on my own with a small child.

I do work but I know if I leave, I will have to adapt to living on a smaller income. Not bothered about myself but do want to do the best for my son.

can someone advise on life as a single mother. Relationships and marriage wasn’t for me so I want to be single for the foreseeable future.

Take your time to collect & copy pertinent financial paperwork.
See a solicitor for an hour’s free advice. Ring around, they all offer it. Ask.
Look at housing opportunities, housing associations etc. Council, private landlords.
Get a decent suitcase or two & make a packing list. (No good leaving with stuff in Tesco bags!)
You’ve lived with him for long enough in difficulty so don’t rush. Get your ducks in a row.
Stay cool & calculated. Therein lies your power.
Smallest step begins the longest journey. Good luck.

Life as a single mum can be great. No more cr*p from the dead weight husband. Freedom from stress. It’s heady stuff & you’ll soon learn to cope with the challenges.
Gather supportive family & friends around you. Building a nest in your new home is fun. Draw up the drawbridge & keep the Fuc**rs out!
It might not seem much fun to start with but I was a single mum for years & loved it.
Calm happy mum, calm happy kid.
