DP wfh so literally I am the only person he says from day to day and probably 4/7 days speaks to .

He is currently waiting to hear about going abroad on a business trip , when I go home from work I always ask him if he has booked it yet . This is not the first thing I ever ask when I get in .

Last night out of the blue he says I have been “a right cow tonight and I am always asking questions ‘ I was shocked . I think conversation is about asking questions but am Aibu to think this ? Should conversation. not someone asking things ?

Well, if the conversation consists of you asking questions all the time then that would be annoying, but I suspect that’s not what’s going on here. He’s just not booked the trip, that’s what’s behind it.

I ask questions such as how’s your day been ? I don’t think it’s constant , he doesnt read newspapers or watch news so it’s not like we can talk about what’s happening in the world and I am literally the person he sees most .

So how many days in a row have you asked him if he’s had to book the business trip?
Because saying you always ask sounds a lot!

After about 3 days I’d want to shout, “noooo! Can we please talk about something else? That’s 3 days in a row, I know you want to know, so I will tell you when it happens!” I’d find it tiresome.

He sounds… dull.

Why are you with him?

adlitem · 09/06/2022 12:39

How many times have you asked him? Why do you keep asking him?

It's hard to say from what you have said. Maybe he is stressed out about the work trip and you constantly asking is making it worse. Maybe your conversational style of lots of questions is not great/ comes across as nagging. Maybe he is a miserable bastard. Who knows!

Are you worried about his wellbeing/ mental health? You keep repeating you are the only person he sees. I wfh, but talk to loads of people every day - on zoom and on chat. Some days I have 8 hours of meetings and am talked out. I would feel pretty irretated if DH came home and asked me loads and loads of questions, including about stuff that didnt' really have anything to do with him (like if I'd booked my work trip yet).

What do people talk about , is it unreasonable to ask whether he will be put of country for a week ?

It’s not unreasonable to ask once.
It’s probably not unreasonable to ask 3 days in a row.
But after that… I wouldn’t question and I’d just feel irritated at you bringing it up AGAIN.
My husband might say, “I’m guessing Bill still hasn’t confirmed? 😉” or “not even gonna ask about France 🤣” - that’s OK if it became a running joke. but if it was every day I’d want him to just STFU!
Why didn’t you want to say how often it was?

HollowTalk · 09/06/2022 13:01

Aren't you bored with him? I'd be so excited about him being away for the week!

Aprilx · 09/06/2022 13:03

I’d be fed up with being asked the same question every day, would feel like pestering.

Crikeyallmightly · 09/06/2022 13:04

It’s probably been 5 times , I can make my own plans then

OP posts:
Testina · 09/06/2022 13:12

5?!
You’d drive me demented 🤣
I’d be ready to shout, “I don’t know, how often do I need to tell you?!”
I also would feel irritated that you weren’t just getting on and making your own plans. Is there a good reason - childcare? - that you can’t?

DanielRicciardosSmile · 09/06/2022 13:15

If every day someone was asking me if I'd done something yet, I'd be pretty annoyed too tbh. I'd feel nagged.

If your conversation is all about asking questions then yes, it can be quite wearing.

Testina · 09/06/2022 13:20

Although on this post alone I’ve said I’d be annoyed with you, I’ve now read two other threads of yours - and he sounds like an arsehole.
