Sorry not really an aibu. My current tariff for gas/electric ends this month and I’ve no idea whether it’s better to move onto the standard rate or to choose a 12m fixed tariff. I know prices are set to increase again in Oct so would fixed better better? If anyone has any advice it I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

It really depends what the fixed rate is offering you. The energy companies know rates are going up in October, so many of the fixed rate tariffs are very high.

Money saving expert website have been regularly updating their advice so that's a good place to go for information. www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/-are-there-any-cheap--fixed-energy-deals-currently-worth-it--/

I had an email from British Gas yesterday suggesting I may like to move to their fixed rate tariff which they know is slightly more expensive but would give me peace of mind.

I looked at their projections - their fixed rate tariff was £725 MORE than the variable!

nah you’re alright thanks! I’ll take my chances!
