Anyone got a pixie cut and happy with it?

I find that they look great at the salon then about a week later just look flat and shapeless, so I end up growing it out. Do like the pixie style but just wish it would look better for longer

I had one for the best part of a decade and loved it. Varying styles within short, from a classic vintage pixie to clippered sides etc.

I love mine, but I admit more because of how easy, even liberating it is, than for how it looks, although I don't hate how it looks. I find I like it when it's first cut and again for the last 3 weeks before the cut is due again, but it does need doing every 6 weeks.

At almost 59 I've gone platinum with a sharp pixie cut and it's the best look I've ever had.

I've had a pixie cut for years. Decent wax works wonders, I use this:

Gatsby moving rubber green

I also am very regular getting a cut, every 5 weeks is about right for me.

I think only some people seem to be able to pull it off without looking a bit butch. But those who can look great.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 08/06/2022 22:35

I love mine. It varies from shaved to choppy layers.
I find a good wax as pp said helps keep it from going flat.

Different colours give it depth too.

I love them but my head and body are too big to carry them off. But i'm so jealous when i see someone with one, they always look amazing!

I love mine, but my hair is wavy/curly so doesn't go flat. I've had shortish hair for years, but this is so much more liberating as even when a bit longer I had to spend more time trying to get it to look right. Now I do nothing, other than wash it once a week. It does need to be regularly trimmed, I get mine done every 8 weeks usually.

You need a better hairdresser. Ask friends/family/colleagues with great short haircuts who cuts their hair. A great hairdresser can cut your hair well enough that it will hold its shape for 8 weeks+ (with a pixie you should get it cut more often than that), a less good hairdresser may make it look good initially but it will lose shape quicker. Tell them you don't blow dry or style your hair and don't like product. A great hairdresser should be able to cut for your hair type so you don't need to put anything in it.

I second this. It’s starting to get better now but in recent years hairdressers who are really skilled at cutting, as opposed to colouring, blow dries or up-dos (which are perfectly valid but entirely different hairdressing skills) have been difficult to find.

Yep, me. I have hair like Ellen DeGeneres, and I love it. I have it cut every four weeks, dyed blonde every eight, and between times I barely think about it.

When I think of the hours I used to spend wrestling my thick, unruly hair into submission, only for it to look shit the moment I stepped outside…

Takes five minutes now. If that.

Mangogogogo · 08/06/2022 23:22

I’m not keen on them and I’ve never looked at one and thought it looked good. Although thta means nada really cos you probs think my hair is vile all long and curly!!

i had a pixie when I was a teen… she straightened it and waxed it and It looked okay but as soon as my natural curl kicked in I looked like a member of a boy band. I had to straighten it every day and I hated my lifeeee!!

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 08/06/2022 23:26

Ive had mine since 1997

get compliments from random strangers on a regular basis

my hairdresser puts loads of texture in it and i use a good wax…my hair is very straight though
