I overhead my partner on the phone to his ex. The chat seemed genral and nothing much to worry about until he called her beautiful inplace of her name. They have no children together and no reason to be in contact. There were also a couple of other back handed compliments.

Have you spoken to him? Why was he contacting her?

What do you mean back handed compliments? Back handed compliments aren't really compliments, so I'm not sure if you mean that?

The "beautiful" isn't good though. Also the fact that they are speaking in the first place if they have no reason to.
