...to quit my extra job?

I work part time in a big public sector organisation. I have been offered a new job which I am due to start in a few weeks.

On top of my part time job, I have been helping another department on a zero hours contract.

I am finding it quite stressful and hate it.

I have a one week notice period on that contract and I'd like to give them two weeks.

I'm only hesitating because my manager is lovely and I think they'd struggle a bit without the extra help.

The extra money is nice but not essential.

Asking for other opinions please

Just reply ‘ as you may know I’m starting a new role on xx so won’t be able to help out with the xx department from xxx. With kind regards xx

Thanks. I'm just moving to another department in the same place, so they know my start date in the new job.

The plan was for me to stay in both my current jobs until my start date, but I've had enough of the zero hours one really.

In my experience working 2 jobs,if 1 is full time, is never worth it. I used to do part time jobs on top of my full time role and nah not worth it.

It’s a zero hours contract. They have absolutely no loyalty to you. If they really needed your services they would offer a proper contract with a longer notice period, sick pay, leave and benefits.
it suits them to be able to drop you the second they don’t need you. You do not owe them anything more than your contractual notice.

Thanks. The zero hours thing has irritated me a bit actually, as one colleague has been expecting me to take on quite a lot of responsibility. When I'm not there, she doesn't do any work I've started but emails it to me at home 🙄.

She is a massive dick, but the manager is lovely.

I think I'll tell him I'm going to leave in a couple of weeks.
