Nursery owed days

My little one has missed some nursery days due to bank Holidays, and the nursery policy is that these missed sessions can be owed back at a later date as long as there is space.

My aibu is that I have been asking about whether they can accommodate my child on an alternative day for a couple of weeks now, as some work meetings have come up that I can't rearrange. These are now next week and I have had to source alternative childcare in case they turn around and say last minute they can't facilitate her.

Is it unreasonable to expect that if they can't have her on days that I desperately need extra childcare then I could ask for the fees for that day back? I'd rather not put her in on any random days just to use up my owed days because they have the space if there's no requirement or benefit or purpose to me needing childcare that day?

I would be frustrated too op but i would steer clear of booking meetings in on your non working days.. I’m not sure where you are up here nursery places are by the dozen but from what I see here there’s no hope in hell of them being undersubscribed if you live anywhere south!

it’s a good policy they have though giving time in leiu, I don’t think many do that! Although I suppose it’s not really working if they can’t accommodate them anyway!
