Severe uterine bleeding?

Worriedmumma85 · 07/06/2022 21:38

I’ve posted before about problonged bleeding and I’m still suffering. Had a scan today which showed a slight uterine thickening. They are referring me to gynaecology but in the meantime how do I cope with this bleeding? I literally cannot deal with this anymore. I’ve been prescribed tranexamic acid but it’s doing nothing. Today I’ve had to change pad/tampon literally every 20/30mins. I can’t even walk about the house without feeling like I’m going to flood all over the floor. I’m in my early 30s with three young children to look after. I have to sit down the whole time. I can’t exercise. I can barely do the school run. This has been going on for 11 weeks now and I’m at my wits end. Doctors don’t seem interested when I say how debilitating this is becoming. I can literally sit on the toilet and it’s like a dripping tap! No idea how I’m even still standing. Any experiences?

Have you had your iron checked recently ?

Irridescantshimmmer · 07/06/2022 21:54

If weakness symptoms occur and or pale skin, a GP needs to take blood then make a descision as it will start to affect your bp.

My eyes went dark blue, looked like I'd been laid out!

Its a flipping nuiscance though is't it.

I know how this feels, but stay as strong as you can and try and eat foods which are rich sources of iron, to replace any iron you will have lost.

Hope this helps,

I ended up on some high dosages of progesterone to stem the bleeding to start with while waiting - if the TXA doesn't work, contact the doctor again (I ended up on different stronger progesterone than normal and they had me keep upping the dose until we worked it out)

Ended up having a uterine ablation and it's made a massive massive difference - only an option if family is complete though (I went to my appointment going 'just cut it out, give me a hysterectomy as I can't cope' - in the past 10 months I think I've had 5-6 days total of light bleeding as opposed to flooding every 30 minutes 20 days a month

They may recommend a mirena coil as that helps a lot of women

Have to say gynae doctors were lovely and did take it seriously

Yes, I had iron checked after four weeks of bleeding but it was fairly light then. It’s been crazy heavy for the past 4/5weeks now. I’m on maternity leave and going back to work in a few weeks to a demanding, can’t sit down all day, job. I’m giving the acid a couple more days and if it doesn’t work I’ll have to phone gp again. Women really shouldn’t have to put up with this. I know we have to wait for various appointments but if blood was pouring out of anywhere else on my body they’d do something about it. Feeling so down and it’s slowly zapping the life out of me.
